IceColo’s Manchester datacentre is one of the most energy efficient in Europe.

It is estimated that datacentres account for more than 3% of the UK's entire energy consumption. Traditionally, around half of the energy consumed in a datacentre goes towards cooling the heat generated by the servers and associated equipment (ie, a PUE of 2.0).

At the IceColo datacentre, M247 has slashed the amount of energy traditionally needed to cool a datacentre through the pioneering development of a state-of-the-art adiabatic air-exchange system. Modern refrigerant and chilled-water based cooling systems are able to achieve efficiencies towards PUEs of 1.6. The IceColo datacentre is running at a PUE of 1.18 and is soon to be externally verified by the GreenGrid as the UK's most energy efficient datacentre.
